Title: School Health Associate
Reports To: Principal and School Nurse
Job Location: All Buildings
Job Summary:
Assists with staff/student illnesses and medical emergencies and the general operation of the school clinic.
Minimum Education:
- High School diploma or GED
- Certification in CPR
- Certification in First Aid
- LPN
Preferred Education/Experience:
- 1-3 years experience in a clinical setting
- 1-3 years in a medical office setting
Required Licensure: An Educational Aide - issued by the Ohio Department of Education
Essential Functions (includes % of time spent on the job):
- Performs clerical support functions, including maintaining of clinic records, for school clinic.
- Greets visitors to the clinic and determines reason for visit, verifies appointments and directs individuals to appropriate persons or offices.
- Contacts parents/guardians when the school has not been notified about an absent student.
- Responds to calls for assistance with sick or injured students. Initiates emergency procedures during the absence of the nurse.
- Prepares clinic as directed by setting up equipment and stocking supplies.
- Prepares and processes database information (e.g. input, compile, tabulate, post, store, retrieve, scan, modify, print, etc.).
- Helps collect and maintain student health records.
- Assists with screening activities (e.g. vision, hearing, scoliosis, etc.).
Other Responsibilities:
- Prepares requisitions for and maintains inventory of clinic supplies.
- Composes and types memos, reports, and records as requested.
- Participates in intervention assistance team (IAT) meetings when requested.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Physical
Requirements:
- Sit, stand and walk on a frequent basis up to seven hours per day.
- Lift objects up to 50 pounds using a 1-person lift, pivot with the weight, and transport up to 10 feet on an occasional basis.
- Pushing or pulling objects up to 10 pounds on a regular basis.
- Reaching, crouching, kneeling and bending on regular basis up to seven hours per day.
Working
Conditions:
- Work is generally indoors in a school setting.
