The shift available is Monday through Friday: 6 AM to 2 PM.

The ideal candidate is professional, punctual, has an eye for detail and can follow instructions while working with little supervision.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain and use as instructed the following: backhoe, front end loader, utility tractors with attachments, bank mower, large area mowers, aerators, top dressers, field sweepers, slit seeders, dump truck, salt spreaders, skid loader, and hand tools
- Attend large lawn and field renovations, grading or regrading and trenching, mowing, prep for landscape installations and landscape removal
- Plant, transplant, prune and remove trees and stumps
- Collect trash with university vehicle
- Snow plowing, salting, installation of parking blocks and signage and repairing hot and cold black top
- Install and remove of paver material
- Collaborate with the excavation team and other maintenance shop personnel completing tasks given
- Follow safety precautions at all times. Inform supervisor if safety procedures are not being followed by fellow workers
- Inspect the work, provide feedback and bring deficiencies to the attention of the supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A;
OR
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more:
OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training
- Valid driver’s license
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of the techniques, methods and practices applied to the care and safe operation of specialized equipment, trucks and vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more utilized at this level
- Knowledge of the principles of operation of motor equipment sufficient to detect defective operation and to learn to make minor repairs.
- Knowledge of the state and federal laws pertaining to the operation of equipment upon highways
- Skill in the operation of assigned equipment
- Ability to check, inspect, service and make running adjustments and minor repairs to equipment
- Ability to use hand power tools safely and properly
- Ability to perform related clerical tasks and to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to exhibit sufficient physical strength to lift heavy objects and work under adverse weather conditions
- Experience in tree service
- Experience in landscaping
- Experience in excavation land work
