The Grounds Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the work of a group of Grounds Maintenance employees performing hardscape and greenscape maintenance, improvement tasks and related work. The candidate will provide knowledge and direction for the numerous tasks related to the maintenance and improvements of the grounds at University owned/leased properties: academic buildings, administrative buildings, residence halls and other structures.
The ideal candidate is professional, punctual, has an eye for detail and can follow oral and written instructions while working with little supervision.
As a member of the Facilities Divisional staff, this position is deemed essential. Essential employees must remain or report to work during partial or full day closings of the University due to hazardous road conditions, emergency circumstances or for other reasons.

Responsibilities include:
- Assigns, directs, trains, participates in and evaluates the work of Grounds Maintenance employees
- Reviews work for compliance with established schedules and procedures, acceptable standards of completion, cleanliness, and sanitation
- Effects changes in Grounds Maintenance methods, materials, and equipment
- Supports management in successfully introducing and implementing new departmental policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
- Four years of experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, skilled equipment operation, or construction labor OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Supervisory experience
- Experience in Tree Service, Excavation, and use of heavy equipment
- Common knowledge in snow plowing operations
