Job Title: Full-Time Project Planner for Land Development Firm
West Coast Entitlement is a family-owned and operated land development firm that provides development services to property owners throughout the Inland Empire. Whether the client is interested in constructing an ADU on their property or changing the General Plan to establish an industrial warehouse, West Coast Entitlement will provide a path forward and work to secure project approvals. West Coast Entitlement is seeking an upstart, motivated Project Planner to become the newest member of the family – someone who wants to grow and learn as we do! The Project Planner will play a crucial role in the successful execution of land development projects, providing technical expertise, ensuring design and application consistency, supervising project progress, and serving as a company liaison to City/County staff and officials. This position is integral to maintaining the high standards of quality and efficiency our company is known for. The Project Planner will oversee projects from start-to-finish - from project kick-off meetings all the way to issuance of Building Permits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees projects from initial design through the issuance of Building Permits, ensuring seamless progression through each phase.
- Reviews project submittals for consistency with local regulations and company standards.
- Reviews and respond to redline comments and corrections. Coordinate with plan checker to maintain clarity throughout the process.
- Oversees project designs to ensure alignment with project goals, objectives, and client expectations.
- Serves as a technical and supervisory resource for the Project Coordinator, guiding their activities and ensuring efficient tracking of plans and coordination of submittals.
- Researches various State Law, municipal codes, land use, zoning, and a variety of statistical data to prepare various technical letters and/or exhibits.
- Assists in resolving citizen and customer service issues.
- Conducts field evaluations and assessments.
- Attends meetings with City and County staff and officials to discuss project requirements, progress, and resolutions.
- Represents the company to City/County at meetings, including Community Meetings, Planning Commission, and City Council for public hearing projects.
- Fosters positive relationships with local authorities, city/county staff, clients, consultants, and other team members.
- Serves as primary point of contact for clients, providing project updates and information to customers as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Managing Member or Principal Planner.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
0-2 years of experience in community development, project planning, or related field.
Knowledge of the philosophies, practices & techniques of planning.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of research and collection.
- Knowledge of effective writing techniques.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software programs, which include Microsoft Office, Internet applications, and GIS.
Skills and Abilities:
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members.
- Familiarity with Adobe Suite programs and AutoCAD.
- Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment as needed.
- Ability to attend to details while keeping big-picture goals in mind.
- Interpersonal skills for facilitating relationships with elected/appointed officials or other decision-makers.
- Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.
- Consistently demonstrates respect, responsiveness, and professionalism toward others while providing superior service to customers.
- Works effectively with colleagues, subordinates, and supervisors from all backgrounds and levels.
