Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients while supporting veterinarians in various clinical tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of animal anatomy, handling, and husbandry, as well as excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners.
Duties
Employees are expected to have the knowledge and skills to assist doctors and coworkers in providing quality care to all patients. This includes but is not limited to:
● Animal Restraint
● Complete Clinical Laboratory Tests, experience with Idexx in-house laboratory equipment preferred
● Use multiple radiology techniques
● Administer vaccines, medications, fluids, and other treatments to patients
● Experience with monitoring patients under anesthesia, assisting in surgery, and performing dental cleaning/ radiographs preferred, but not required
● Deliver compassionate nursing care
● General knowledge of animal breeds and biology
● Basic knowledge in pharmacology
● Knowledge of infectious diseases (particularly zoonotic diseases)
● Mathematical skills to calculate proper drug and fluid dosages, fill appropriate dosages of medications sent home with patients
● Communication with clients (Doctor recommendations, scheduling appointments, medication instruction/demonstration, answering questions)
● Maintain complete and accurate medical records
● Properly invoice treatments and services
● Collect payments
● Maintain the cleanliness of the practice
Qualifications
● Minimum of 1 year of veterinary technician/ assistant experience required
● CVT preferred, but not required
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
