To fulfill our mission, we offer a boarding program for our middle school students to build a community of scholars, and so that our students have a safe, structured place during the week to focus on their studies. This also prepares them for the leadership and independence needed to be successful in college and beyond.
The Bookkeeper at WES is hard-working, organized, reliable, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure the smooth operations of the business office. The Bookkeeper provides support to school administration by maintaining accurate records of accounting transactions, ensuring that financial activities comply with school policies and procedures, applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and preparing reports for school administration and other stakeholders as required. Coordinates the implementation of accounting controls, administers school budgets and provides oversight of school systems.
The Bookkeeper reports to the CFOO.
The responsibilities for a WES Bookkeeper are, but not limited to, as follows:
● Maintains accurate records of accounting transactions, ensuring that financial activities comply with school policies and procedures, applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and preparing reports for school administration and other stakeholders as required.
● With CFOO, verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions as well as maintains and monitors school budgets and purchases.
● With CFOO, reconciles and balances all general fund accounts to ensure compliance.
● Processes daily mail
● Receives money and makes timely deposits for various student activity accounts.
● Processes check requests for bill payments and orders for various accounts.
● Prepares checks and bill payments for CFOO approval.
● Compiles reports and records to display relevant statistics such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and other items pertinent to operation of business.
● Ensures proper compliance at school level for all monetary transactions ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
● Maintains receipt books; distributes to staff/club sponsors when needed; ensures receipts are written properly; balances receipt books at the end of each semester.
● Reports to the CFOO any irregularities and/or situations of non-compliance with policies or procedures.
● Assists CFOO with audit.
● Assists with Uniform Store
● Assists with Food Service Program
● Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
● Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
Qualifications and Experience:
An ideal candidate for a WES Bookkeeper possesses:
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
● A minimum of two (2) years administrative experience
Qualification and Skills:
