Lead and Leadership :
Supervise, train and manage planer mill staff, including machine operators, laborers, and maintenance personnel. Assign tasks and schedule shifts to ensure optimal productivity and coverage. Act as supervisor on shift when necessary. Operational Management :
Oversee the operation of planer mill machinery, ensuring proper setup, operation, and maintenance. Coordinate with the sawmill and other departments to ensure efficient workflow and supply of rough lumber. Monitor production output to ensure it meets quality and quantity standards. Quality Control :
Inspect lumber for quality, identify defects, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure consistent product quality. Work with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions. Maintenance and Safety :
Ensure proper maintenance and operation of machinery and equipment. Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions. Administrative Duties :
Maintain accurate production records and prepare reports on production metrics, inventory levels, and operational data. Assist in presenting KPI data. Continuous Improvement :
Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing changes to enhance efficiency and productivity. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices. Collaborate with management to develop and implement strategic plans for the planer mill. What you will need : Education :
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in a related field is a plus. Skills :
Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent knowledge of planer mill machinery and operations. Proficient in quality control and production processes. Effective communication and people skills. Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical labor for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, up to fifty pounds. Work Environment :
Requires working in a mill environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Safety gear such as helmets, gloves, and eye protection are required. Experience :
At least two years of supervision in a production environment. Motivations :
