What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-K Assistant Teacher position at West Haven Preschool?
Responsibilities:
- Assists in preparing lesson plans based on approved Georgia Pre-k Curriculum and instructs children in age-appropriate activities according to that curriculum
- Responsible for a classroom of 20 children with the assistance of the lead teacher
- Sets up and maintains the classroom to ensure a safe, fun, and age-appropriate learning environment
- Takes appropriate steps to clean and sanitize classrooms, materials, and restrooms
- Ensures the classroom is organized and ready for tours at all times
- Treats the children with dignity and respect, displaying friendly, enthusiastic, and caring behavior
- Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment
- Reports any injuries or accidents to management immediately and completes necessary forms
- Supervises the children as required by the center and state regulations
- Participates with children in activities in the classroom and playgrounds
- Maintains confidentiality of all information on children and their families
- Assist in documentation for Work Sampling On-line
- Assist with Parent-Teacher conferences twice a year (more often as needed or requested by parent), meeting all deadlines required by Bright From the Start and/or management
- Attends all staff meetings, training sessions, etc. as requested by management
- Completes annual state licensing training requirements and professional development training
- Performs other duties as requested by management
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding of all current applicable child care regulations
- Ability to problem-solve, manage conflict
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent time management skills
- Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm
- Proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to balance multiple priorities
Qualifications:
- 21 years of age or older with a minimum of a CDA, TCC, or higher.
- Prefer a minimum of 12 months experience working in a GA pre-k program or a licensed childcare facility.
- Must be able to meet state background check requirements
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.50 - $15.00 per hour
