High School Robotics Teacher

West Michigan Aviation Academy is currently seeking a High School Robotics Teacher.  Must have teacher certification and endorsement.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Robotics Teacher to join our team. The High School Robotics Teacher will be responsible for designing, implementing, and teaching a comprehensive robotics curriculum that engages students in engineering, programming, and collaborative problem-solving. This role requires a dynamic educator who can inspire students to explore the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through hands-on projects and competition preparation.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

• Teach robotics concepts, programming languages, and engineering principles through hands-on projects and collaborative activities.

• Teach students how to design, build, and program robots using various platforms and technologies.

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.

• Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including competitions, tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.

• Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.

• Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution.

• Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students

• Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff

• Regular and predictable attendance

Cognitive Demands:

• Supervision of multiple students at once

• Establishing routines and procedures

• Maintaining a safe and orderly environment

• Create and implement instructional plans

• Participate in continuous professional development

• Effective oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands:

• Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs

• Stand and walk frequently

• Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat

• Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year

• Withstand a moderate noise level

• Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary

• Assist/lift students, as necessary

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Education, or a related field.

• Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for secondary education with an endorsement in the subject. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities.

• Strong knowledge of robotics programming and hardware, including familiarity with relevant software and tools.

• Passion for technology and innovation, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and encouraging educational environment.
