The West Monona Community School District is seeking a dedicated Literacy Curriculum and Mentoring Coordinator for the 2025-2026 school year. This position is shared across six school districts, providing a unique opportunity to collaborate and make a broad impact. This position will involve providing training and support to teachers and administrators in the implementation of research-based literacy curriculum and interventions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Education or Curriculum and Instruction
- 10 years of teaching, administrative, or consulting experience
- K-12 Reading/Literacy Endorsements
- Certified as LETRS trainer
- Knowledgeable in the Science of Reading
- Experience leading professional development and supporting the implementation of that professional development
- Training in Dyslexia
- Background supporting implementation of CKLA Amplify
- Background providing mentoring and induction program
- Training and experience supporting teachers and administrators in implementing research-based literacy interventions
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the leadership team to establish focused plans to be implemented in all classrooms.
- Maintain positive and supportive relationships with all staff.
- Assist the building principal with the implementation and monitoring of required K-6 reading plans.
- Assist with state and local reports including CSIP and Annual Progress Report as well as other reports as requested by the Superintendent.
- Attend board meetings when requested.
- Communicate to the administration the needs of the district as perceived by staff members.
- Develop, plan, and deliver mandatory mentoring training for new staff including keeping documentation.
- Communicate new legislative requirements with the leadership team, to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with the building principal on the implementation or adoption of literacy materials, interventions, curriculum, and programs.
- Communicate consistently with administration and staff to ensure fidelity to the implementation of literacy programming.
- Willingness to obtain additional training or certifications as requested.
- Make recommendations to the superintendent or building principal for the allocation of district resources.
- Coteach, model, and coach lesson implementation of the literacy curriculum.
- Exhibit critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
