JOB SUMMARY
For this active role, the Director of Food Service Operations will collaborate with the Program Managers, Social Service Teams and Food Service Staffs, in each program to ensure that the WSFSSH meal programs are providing safe and nutritious meals that will be prepared as described on each programs approved menus. In addition, the Director of Food Service Operations will lead a team that provides operational expertise in all facets of meal program management. This includes hands-on management of kitchen operations, staff engagement and timely meal provision for each program while ensuring compliance with Department of Health (DOH) kitchen maintenance, meal preparation and food storage standards.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for providing nutritious meals across multiple WSFSSH Senior Residences
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Operations
- Leads a team of experienced food service managers while providing hands-on management of WSFSSH food service operations.
- Performs audits of safety, sanitation, food quality, meal delivery at point of service, a per DOH standards to optimize financial and operational performance.
- Ensures compliance with all contracts and DOH requirements related to kitchen cleanliness and food safety.
- Oversees the ordering and storage of food in the absence of the head cook / food service manager.
- Participates in creating the budgets and monitoring the budget compliance of the WSFSSH meal programs.
- Oversee all vendor relations (pricing, delivery, quality checks)
- Completes quarterly kitchen inspections.
- Ensures kitchen staff are following the posted menu and / or making appropriate substitutions if necessary.
- Performs bi-weekly kitchen walkthroughs to monitor meal service functions and kitchen cleanliness.
- Participates in the planning of the annual WSFSSH all staff gathering, which includes kitchen staffing, menu planning, ordering the food, paper supplies, and assisting with preparation, serving, and clean-up.
