Chief of Compliance and Secondary EducationWest Springfield Public SchoolsThe Chief of Compliance and Secondary Education will assist the Superintendent with all administrative and advisory work relative to supporting secondary schools, overseeing Title VI, Title IX, the Office of Special Services and Health Services in the West Springfield Public Schools. Essential Functions: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.-Partner with the superintendent and the district leadership team to focus on systems and policies that will directly impact/improve students learning experiences.-Facilitate district leadership learning experiences by using and analyzing a variety of student-specific data to assess the effectiveness of district-wide policies, guidance, practices, and support for educators that will ensure instruction meets the needs of all students.-Support district leadership in making strategic use of staffing, resources, and budgeting to focus policies and practices across the district that will improve the quality of teaching and learning at the secondary level.-Serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.-Collaboratively lead, with the superintendent and Chief of Instruction, the implementation of the districts instructional priorities at the secondary level.-Coordinate middle and high school site visits. -Evaluate the middle and high school principals in accordance with district policies, state regulations, and professional standards for educational leadership evaluation.-Support school leaders in making strategic use of staffing, scheduling, and budgeting autonomy to focus work on implementing their sustainable improvement plans in order to improve the quality of teaching and learning at the school.-Acts as the district Civil Rights and Title IX Coordinator.-Provide or coordinate annual ongoing professional development to schools on Civil Rights and Title IX.-Act as lead investigator in all Title IX investigations and write up all investigations and provide follow-up letters to families.-Provide professional learning and support to establish, monitor, and support school-level routines, procedures, and protocols-Oversee suspensions and hearing processes for middle and high school students.-Supervises and supports the Director of Student Services, Director of Health Services and the Middle and High School principals.-Work in collaboration with Human Resources related to staffing issues.-Assist in collective bargaining negotiations.-Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.Education and Experience: -Master's degree required from an accredited college or university -A Massachusetts DESE certificate, licensed as a superintendent/assistant superintendent-Minimum of 3 years teaching experience-Minimum 5 years demonstrated success leading a team of educators to improve student achievement; -Demonstrated successful experience in public school administration; -Secondary administration experience required-Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching; ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports; -Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders; -Demonstrated skill in human relations, communications, leadership and organizational theory.
