What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boarding and Daycare Attendant position at West Toledo Animal Hospital?
Position Summary:
As a member of the kennel staff you are expected to feed, water, bathe and exercise animals. Staff members play with animals and provide companionship to them. They watch animals, record their condition, and report any problems. You also maintain the cleanliness of the boarding and daycare facility.
Essential Position Functions & Responsibilities:
- Memorize the names of the Suites, Streets and Rooms.
- Handle and restrain small and large animals up to 90 with pounds safely.
- Leash walks animals
- Feeding, Watering and recording appetite, stool consistency changes and attitude.
- Observe animals for signs of injury or illness and report observations to the Technicians
- Proper use of on-site equipment.
- Maintain laundry and kitchen areas.
- Unload and stock food and supplies
- Cleaning and scrubbing of all surfaces in indoor run areas
- Consistent Proper use of safety equipment.
- Maintain all storage areas, parking lot, walk ways and grounds.
- Bathe all guest in preparation for check out and client pick-up (Includes trimming nails, cleaning ears, drying, scanning coat and skin for any issues and parasites)
- Knowledge of fire safety procedures, including evacuation procedures and location of equipment
- Knowledge of Boarding Module, Observation forms and White Board (Cornerstone).
- Move animals and their records throughout the hospital or boarding as needed.
- Ensure that all guests are allowed a minimum of 30 minutes of walk/play time in AM & PM (weather permitting & assuming the guests can tolerate it).
- Administer Medications to kennel guests per Check in instructions
- Mix food, formulas, and supplements following instructions
- Provides tours of the Kennel, Cat Room, DayCare Center and Outdoor Grounds.
- Maintains all facilities at full readiness for tours
- Works Daycare ensuring the safety of all guests
Reports to: Boarding and Daycare Supervisor
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: Minimum 1 year working as Kennel Staff or similar job function
