SUMMARY
This temporary position is funded through the Evergreen Growth Grant Project . Candidates selected for this role will collaborate with District staff and a representative from Optimal Talent Dynamics to support the development of a workforce-ready manufacturing engineering program at West Valley High School. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a meaningful initiative while gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative environment. Three to four high school students will be hired to work up to 40 hours total with no more than 15 hours a week to assist in updating the engineering and manufacturing classrooms this spring.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist project team and maintenance staff with clearing out old equipment and setting up new
equipment, furniture, and cabinets. - Assist project team and maintenance staff with organizing manufacturing materials, painting
classrooms, and cleanup of the classrooms. - Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish,
and waste. - Professionally interact with District staff, colleagues, members of the public, and students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
- Flexible in learning new concepts cooperates with others and adapts to a variety of assignments and conditions.
- Demonstrates personal characteristics of flexibility, high-stress tolerance, reliability, punctuality, dependability, and an ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with other employees, management, staff, students, and the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Health and physical stamina to stand on feet for extended periods of time.
- Perform work at various heights, and perform various types of physical labor.
- Stand, walk, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, push, and pull. Stand or walk 95 percent of the workday.
- The position requires frequent squatting, bending, stooping, or twisting at the neck and trunk while performing the essential job functions.
- Fine motor skills, including use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, and be able to hear or talk to others.
- Perform work in adverse weather conditions.
