- Assist the Principal in the overall administration of the school in curriculum & instruction
- Assist in development of strategic plan in compliance with West Virginia Board of Education Policies
- Assist the Principal in developing curriculum and planning course of study
- Assist the Principal in arranging the master teaching schedule and any special assignments that may be needed
- Assist the school committees/organizations. This includes, but is not limited to, School Curriculum Team, Faculty Senate, Local School Improvement Council, Parent/Teacher Association
- Assist the Principal in evaluation and counseling staff members regarding their individual and group performances
- Attend special events held to recognize student achievement and attend school sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events as directed by the Principal
- Supervise student traffic throughout the building and on the school grounds
- Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deal with special cases as necessary
- Supervise the reporting and monitoring of student attendance; work with the Attendance Director for investigative follow-up action
- Assist in conducting safety inspections and safety fire drill activities
- Will be responsible to administer school and county policies as directed by the Principal in a manner consistent with procedures followed by the other high school Assistant Principals
- Aid parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives
- Perform such record keeping functions as the Principal may direct
- Work with department heads and school staff as directed by the Principal
- Assume responsibility for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services as directed by the Principal
- Maintain effective working relationship with Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Principal
- Provide instructional leadership and support within the school building
- Create a climate conducive to teaching and learning
- Implement a system to monitor student progress; includes attendance at Student Assistant Team Meetings (SAT) and Individual Education Plans (IEP)
- Establish good public and employee relations
- Evaluate personnel under his/her supervision
- Maintain professional work habits
- Maintain and upgrade his/her professional skills
- Maintain high standard of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary, according to due process of rights of students
