ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL VACANCY
POSITION: Professional Accountant
LOCATION: Lewis County Board Office
QUALIFICATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance conferred from an Accredited College or University. Must have a minimum of 24 college hours in accounting. An overall GPA of 2.5. Successful applicant will be required to obtain certification through the WVDE for a Professional Business Official certificate.
PREFERENCE: 1. General knowledge in data processing
2. Ability to interpret and relate financial documents
3. Experience in school board accounting
4. Knowledge of WVEIS
JOB DESCRIPTION/
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist the Treasurer with all financial accounting functions of the Board
including, but not limited to all functions of employee payroll, PEIA,
employment benefits, and retirement programs and other duties as assigned.
2. Responsible for maintaining current and accurate knowledge of the WV laws
and regulations as they relate to accounting practices & procedures.
3. Maintain school system’s retirement plan in accordance with WV state law.
4. Maintain and reconcile the employee insurance and benefits plans, including
but not limited to PEIA, optical and dental.
5. Assist with open enrollment relating to the benefit plan.
6. Manage the operation and functions of the school funds online accounting
program software and assist schools with accounting problems.
7.Manage the operation and functions of the software and assist personnel in the
operation of the system and the interface system with payroll.
8.Complete employment verifications, as requested.
9. Other job-related duties as assigned
REPORTS TO: Treasurer and Superintendent
EMPLOYMENT TERM: 240-days (prorated for the 2024-2025 school year)
SALARY: 1. State Teacher’s Pay Scale
2. Commensurate with Degree Level and Accounting Experience
3. $13,000 supplement
AVAILABLE: Upon Board Action and Notification
