The West Virginia Housing Development Fund (the “Fund”), a quasi-governmental organization providing safe, decent affordable housing across West Virginia, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Human Resources Assistant in our Charleston Office.
Job Summary: This employee assists the Manager of Human Resources in carrying out all functions related to the administrative operations of the department, including typing, filing, and scanning. This employee also assists with preparing and conducting new hire orientation, managing benefit enrollment, including new hire and qualifying events and setting up employee files in compliance with agency and government regulations. This position requires the ability to work with a considerable degree of independence and maintain effective working relationships with all management and non-management employees. The work requires the application of established procedures and attention to detail. This employee will have access to sensitive and confidential data; therefore, confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for inputting employee changes, including pay rate and position changes, into the HRIS system;
- Responsible for payroll preparation through the HRIS system;
- Responsible for benefit administration, including enrollment, qualifying event changes, employment changes through the HRIS benefit system;
- Conducts orientation for new hires;
- Maintains electronic personnel records and general human resource files by following departmental document retention policy guidelines;
- Responsible for the scanning and maintenance of the Human Resources Information System;
- Provides customer service to employees on a variety of human resources issues including payroll, benefits and policy questions;
- Responsible for maintaining and tracking employee assessment forms;
- Responsible for scheduling interviews;
- Processes dental and vision direct reimbursements for payment as well as departmental mail; and
- Assists with special projects when needed.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: The employee in this position may be required to sit at a desk for long periods of time. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
Required Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of three years’ experience in the Human Resources field. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Education/Experience: Associate Degree in Human Resources with benefit administration or payroll experience.
Required Certificates/Licenses: Valid driver’s license
