MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Complete Hand Hygiene Monitor program training within first week of employment.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Six (6) months of work experience in healthcare, or a training or academic program in a health care field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. One (1) year training or academic program in a health care field
EXPERIENCE:
1. Current employee of the WVU Health System.
2. One (1) year of direct patient health care experience.

1.Performs direct observation of patient care and support staff to evaluate for completion of proper hand hygiene following established policies and procedures.
2. Collects data on hand hygiene practices for inpatient units by direct observation of health care workers entering and exiting patient rooms.
3.Submits data collected about hand hygiene observations using a secure web application for compilation and feedback to departments.
4. Supports the efforts to improve patient safety and infection prevention by providing data needed to improve hand hygiene adherence.
5. Responsible to create their schedule and complete required number of hand hygiene observations per week/month.
6. Participates in scheduled team meetings.
