Graduate Assistant for Wellness

The Community Director for Wellness is a live-in 10-month, 2 year commitment, overseeing 2- 3 residence halls of up to 300 and a staff of 6 – 8 Resident Assistants, and/or 11 off campus houses with responsibilities of using a wide range of media to design, promote, and disseminate information for the Campus Life Office and skills to track, assess and monitor all residence life programming. The position also assists with the oversight of 25 work study students, programming and instruction of group exercise classes for the campus Wellness Center. Applicants must be accepted into one of West Virginia Wesleyan College’s graduate programs (M.B.A., MSN, MFA or MSAT) before being considered for the position. The stipend includes tuition, full room and board, and $3,600. Hours include weekday office hours, weeknight hours and duty rotation. The position reports to the Director of Campus Life.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintains the daily operation of 2 – 3 residence halls and/or 11 off campus houses
• Supervises 2 – 3 RD’s, 6 – 10 RA’s, with programming, discipline, administrative duties
• Participates in weeknight and weekend duty rotation with professional staff
• Supervises 25 work study students in the Wellness Center with the Director of Campus Life
• Works closely with the Assistant Director of Campus Life for planning, promoting and implementing programs for the Wellness Center
• Administrative duties of scheduling, time sheets, machine maintenance
• Participates in Wellness On-Call duty rotation
• Works 20 hours a week in the Wellness Center (hours vary from day to day)

• Supervision skills
• Experience in facilitating programs for adult fitness
• Knowledge of the equipment and programming mindset of a Wellness Center
• Certification in teaching adult fitness classes
• CPR

Qualifications, Required

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Acceptance into a master’s level program at West Virginia Wesleyan College
• Position subject to background check
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Position begins August 1, 2025 and ends May 31, 2027

• Adult fitness programming experience
