Under general supervision, performs work at the full-performance level by providing technical and/or programmatic assistance to employers, accountants, lawyers, and staff when processing employer quarterly contribution and wage reports. Adheres to the West Virginia Unemployment Compensation Law. Position will process quarterly contribution and wage reports and payments received from employers to be applied to their account. Determines the correctness and completeness of reports and payments received from employers. Audit accounts when errors are apparent, making corrections as necessary to the reports. Prepares letters to employers requesting additional information to the filing, returning payments for corrections, returning reports to non-liable employers. Assists the public by telephone, email, mail or in person with complex questions regarding the employer's account and makes recommendations to management for procedural changes in processing of employer information. Uses independent judgment and complex analysis from receipt of reports and/or payments through the entry of report and/or payment information onto the Automated Employer Tax System. Verifies correctness of payments, adding the payments that were entered that day for deposit into the clearing account the following day. Enter corrections to wages and/or social security numbers on the employer wage reports through the Automated Benefit Payment System. Corrections will be made from amended reports received from employers and information received by agency staff. Work also includes interpretation and application of state and federal laws as to the reporting of wages on a quarterly basis by employers. Serves as back-up when needed to other staff in the unit.
