Health and Human Resources Specialist - Office of Nutritional Services - Kanawha Co.

The WIC Vendor Compliance Liaison is responsible for managing relationships with WIC Vendors (WIC Authorized Grocery Stores), and providing administrative coordination, development, and complex technical assistance for allegations of fraud, customer complaints and compliance investigations (i.e. inventory audits and compliance buys), a component of the Office of Nutrition Services (ONS) Retailer and Farmer Management Division.  Serves as a liaison to facilitate problem resolution and assures compliance with policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state and local statutes, standards, and administrative rule and regulations for all owners, operators, and managers of retail grocery stores conducting WIC transactions, WIC customers, and local WIC Agency Vendor Liaisons.  Conduct covert visits to high-risk WIC vendors statewide under assumed identity of vendor practices by conducting WIC transactions and observing customer service practices which have potentially significant impact and may involve sensitive legal issues.  Serve as subject matter expert for the WIC Vendor Handbook and maintains retailers/farmers sections of the ONS website.

Experience: Two (2) years full-time, equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in a technical or program area that is related to the area of employment.
Note: Appointment above the entry rate may be made at 5% for each six (6) months of successfully completed work as an intern in a practicum placement with the Department of Health and Human Resources for the Master of Social Work degree.
