Under general supervision, an employee in this classification performs the duties of a billing clerk. The work is conducted within a secure facility and involves direct contact with inmates. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all inmate admissions and releases, as well as documenting any jurisdictional changes that occur during incarceration. The employee is required to enter data into the agency database, scan required documents, issue debits and/or credits, and successfully complete monthly billing processes. The ability to read, interpret, and understand court orders is essential. This position communicates directly with local magistrate and circuit courts, judges, circuit clerks, prosecutors, attorneys, other correctional facilities, federal facilities, law enforcement agencies, and the general public.
