What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regulatory Licensing Support Specialist 1 - Alcohol Beverage Commission - Kanawha Co. position at West Virginia?
Under general supervision, at the full-performance level, this position is responsible for the following duties:
- Processing new license applications and renewal licenses for class A and class B licensed establishments, special events, non-retail businesses, and the issuing of transportation permits.
- Obtains, reviews, evaluates, and compiles necessary data and documentation to assist management in determining licensing eligibility.
- Analyzes written and oral applicant information.
- Provides basic guidance and information regarding licenses, permits, fees, and basic background investigation processing.
- Detects and investigates discrepancies and clarifies application information through interviews, telephone inquiries and correspondence.
- Recognizes need for a more extensive investigation and forwards to senior level staff for further research and investigation.
- Coordinates with enforcement division to schedule initial inspections of new license applicants and to share information concerning current licensees.
- Responsible for providing enforcement division with required forms needed for initial inspection process and documentation.
- Compiles application/renewal packet for all applicable WVABCA license types: private clubs, private wine restaurants, wine and beer carryout establishments, transportation permits, and all other various licenses issued.
- Exchanges information with other contacts including state and municipal agencies, attorneys, magistrates, law enforcement, various bonding agents, and the general public.
- Maintains records of deposits for all fees and monies received.
- Responsible for scanning and maintaining filing system in accordance with agency retention schedule.

- Occasionally serve as the backup for answering the division’s multiline telephone, taking calls, and messages for staff and conveying information to callers when possible.
- Be responsible for retrieving, receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail.
- Be responsible for receiving and processing FOIA requests.
- Process payments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Training: High school diploma or the equivalent.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid clerical experience.
Substitution: Successful completion of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of one (1) year of experience for thirty (30) credit hours of education.
