Job Summary
- Responsible for the collection and analysis of patient information in order to schedule all appropriate clinical activities for inpatient and outpatient evaluations/procedures.
Responsibilities
- Scheduling
- Obtains all pertinent information including additional clinical, medical, dietary, etc. information from referring agents, patients, etc. as needed.
- Directly communicates inpatient referrals accurately and within 2 hours of receipt of referral to department clinical staff.
- Arranges additional services as needed for patient special procedures including MBS, transportation, interpreter services, etc.
- Enters clinical, demographic and insurance information via inquiry of patient, agency, physician office, etc. into department scheduling program with at least 95% accuracy and completeness.
- Analyzes information collected and determines appropriate outpatient procedure(s) to be scheduled given protocols, staffing availability, time allocation, location and patient needs.
- Maintains department scheduling system to include staff vacations, meetings, and hospital business days.
- Efficiency/Productivity
- Consistently enters evaluation slot data to intake productivity spreadsheet and reports excessive appointment openings/wait times to managerial staff.
- Audits scheduling program, maintaining clinical staff productivity at 60%.
- Communicates Effectively
- Communicates scheduling issues to appropriate managerial staff to ensure timely resolution.
- Demonstrates the ability to independently identify challenges, issues or problems, seeking support when needed to ensure a positive outcome or resolution. Consistently takes responsibility for resolution of scheduling issues.
- Collaborates with other office staff formally and informally regarding Intake/Departmental practices to insure quality patient care.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
- EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years in health system and/or clinical environment
EDUCATION- BA/BS in Education or Speech and Hearing preferred; or degree with emphasis in Human Service or other Health Care fields
