Job Description Summary:
The Material Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and expediting the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments to meet production and shipping schedules. This role involves collaborating with supervisors, managing material requisitions, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials to support operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review production schedules and collaborate with department supervisors to identify material requirements and priorities.
- Requisition materials and establish delivery sequences to align with production needs and job order priorities.
- Coordinate the transfer of materials within the facility to meet production schedules, including arranging for repairs or assembly as needed.
- Verify that materials delivered to production departments meet specified requirements.
- Maintain records of materials and parts in process, using manual or computerized systems.
- Prepare reports on material quantities and availability to ensure accurate inventory management.
General Duties:
- Monitor and control the movement of materials along production lines or conveyor systems as needed.
- Support inventory control efforts, including compiling data for production records.
- Operate material-handling equipment, such as industrial trucks, to move materials between departments.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in inventory management and material-handling processes.
- Experience with manual and computerized inventory systems preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with supervisors and team members.
- Familiarity with production and shipping workflows in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management software is a plus.
