What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fac Maint Tech - Mech Trds position at Western Carolina University?
The primary purpose of the position is to install, maintain and repair building plumbing and sanitary waste systems, building heating and ventilating systems, underground water and steam distribution lines, and sewer mains. Normal work hours are weekdays Monday through Friday. Emergency response and rotating weekend standby duty is also applicable.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Position works at the journeyman level of standard plumbing procedures and practices. Skilled in the use of wide variety of tools and equipment associated with the trade. Ability to exercise independence in performance of routine work. Ability to maintain effective working relations with other employees, departments and general public. Ability to assume responsibility as lead worker in the performance of duties. Required Minimum Training: Completion of High School or equivalent. Three (3) years progressive experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of building plumbing and sanitary waste systems, building heating and ventilation systems, underground water, sewer, and steam systems, and sewer mains.
Must have a valid North Carolina Drivers License.
Must be able to obtain a North Carolina Backflow and Cross-Connect License, NC CDL and a North Carolina Fire Sprinkler Maintenance Technician License within 1 year of hire date.
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification.
Optional Guidelines:
Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
