Western Dairyland Head Start is hiring a full-time, full-year Home Visitor at our Truax Head Start Center in Eau Claire, WI.

The Home Visitor is responsible providing Head Start services through weekly home visits and socializations twice per month. To educate and support each family to nurture and promote their child’s development. This position requires frequent travel for home visits, socializations, meetings, and trainings.

The salary range for this position is $43,511 to $54,390 per year. This is a 36 hours per week position and the scheduled will be Monday through Thursday.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct ongoing developmental screenings and assessments. Maintain online records on each child to document progress
  • Plan and prepare individualized activities for children ages 0-5 utilizing a research-based curriculum for home visits and socializations
  • Conduct weekly home visits for a minimum of one- and one-half hours with families using the home as a learning environment
  • Plan healthy, safe environments for socialization activities guided by the curriculum
  • Prepare the classroom and outdoor spaces for socialization. Endure that the socialization environment space is safe, sanitary and in compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards and agency’s policies and procedures
  • Mentor and model appropriate child development interactions and techniques for parents and children ages 0-5
  • In collaboration with family, ensure that screenings are conducted within 45 days of the child enrollment into the program
  • Create developmentally appropriate learning environments in collaboration with parents which will assist them in facilitating their children’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development
  • Conduct parent conferences during a home visit on the child’s progress
  • Develop and facilitate parent, family, and community engagement activities based on the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement Outcomes Framework model
  • Coordinate Tiered Staffing meetings with Home Based Manager
  • Provide parent resource materials to increase knowledge, understanding, skills, and experience based on families’ individual needs
  • Advocate and refer families in emergency crisis situations. Follow up on referrals
  • Consult with local Birth -3, school districts, health providers, community agencies, and professionals to ensure coordination of services
  • Consult with Home Based Manager regarding children developmental concerns and complete the referral for further evaluation if needed
  • Participate in IFSP/IEP meetings and follow through with individual intervention plans
  • Assist children and families transition to Eary Head Start, from Early Head Start to Head Starrt or the next education setting
  • Utilize knowledge of family living and family psychology to assist families in developing Family Partnership Agreement
  • Develop and measure short and long terms goals for children and families
  • Provide information and assistant to families in meeting health requirement according to the Head Start Performance Standards
  • Plan and facilitate family engagement activities including parent trainings, parent committee meetings, family events, socializations, and field trips
  • Support parents and children in the process of transition from one placement to another
  • Establish and maintain community and professional contacts
  • Coordinate with ERSEA Manager in recruiting eligible families, Determine eligibility in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards
  • Maintain accurate family and child records on the ChildPlus data base
  • Maintain attendance records for home visits and socialization
  • Maintain individual child and family files
  • Recommend purchases and supplies to the Home-Based Manager
  • Complete Professional Development Needs Assessment and develop ongoing Professional Development goals

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Child and Family Development or closely related degree preferred, Child Development Associate for Home Visitor Credential required
  • Experience implementing programming in compliance with federal and state requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Early Childhood Development with a focus on prenatal care and infant/toddler development
  • Must complete Family Services Credential Training within 18 months of hiring

Licenses, Certifications, Authorizations Required:

  • Initial Health Exam
  • Must meet Western Dairyland’s insurability requirements
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
