We’re hiring Substitute Team Sports Assistants to assist youth with disabilities as they play Park District Sports this Spring.

Job Description:

• Help kids/teens with Special Needs have FUN, socialize, practice, and compete in Spring Sports.
• Soccer, Baseball (T-ball), Martial Arts, Gymnastics, etc.
• The team will have coaches. Your role is to be a 1:1 Inclusion Aide for one player.
• Sports background/knowledge is ideal but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Support an athlete’s needs (physical, emotional, behavioral, sensory, personal) and provide instructions, redirection, and adaptations - as they are included on the team.

Where:

• We work in 9 communities: Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Roselle, Warrenville, West Chicago, Wheaton, and Winfield.

Hours/Schedule:

• We’re flexible. As a Substitute, you choose which days you work.
• Team practices are about 1 hour long on weekdays (between 4pm - 8pm).
• Team games last about 60 - 90 minutes on weeknights or weekends.
• Seasons are usually 6 - 8 weeks long (in April, May, & June).

Requirements:

• Must perform job duties independently of others.
• Firsthand experience providing direct support to individuals with special needs.
• Effectively communicate with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Age 16 , with access to reliable transportation.
