What are the responsibilities and job description for the WDSRA Day Camp Head Instructor/Leader position at WESTERN DUPAGE SPECIAL RECREATION ASSOCIATION?
Location: VARIES-See below for all of our summer camp locations!
Western DuPage Special Recreation Association is THE place for engaging community-based social and recreational programs for individuals of all ages with special needs. You can get paid to play and make an impact on the individuals we serve!
We are currently in need of Head Instructors (Leaders) to work with people with disabilities in a summer day camp setting. WDSRA Day Camps take place Monday-Thursday afternoons-with our participants attending Extended School Year (Summer School) in the morning and then coming to us in the afternoons for day camp.
WDSRA Day Camps consist of swimming, field-trips, theme weeks and more! Day Camp Staff are responsible for working directly with school-age campers with various disabilities-assisting them with the various camp activities, assisting with activities of daily living (including washroom assistance, changing of clothes and possibly feeding assistance), supervising them at all times and most importantly interacting with our campers and providing a FUN summer camp experience!
Head Instructors are the on-site leaders of our day camps. Head Instructors carry out the daily camp schedules, delegate and supervise the counselors assigned to their camp, facilitate and adapt activities to meet campers needs and are the springboard for a successful camp experience.
It is preferred that Head Instructors be 21 years old and willing to drive a 14 passenger mini-bus for small group fieldtrips.
We're looking for college students, teachers, paraprofessionals, retirees, or anyone over the age of 21 who has the desire to make an impact! We'll provide training and ongoing support and mentoring. You must be eligible for part-time employment, have reliable transportation to get to and from work, and be able to perform your job duties independently of others.
