Summary:
- Plant Managers oversee and manage all functions related to operating a Western Green plant successfully. This includes meeting production goals and standards while minimizing manufacturing costs. Education Requirements:
- Four-year degree or equivalent experience in related field.
Essential Job Functions:
- Direct and manage daily plant operations for production, maintenance, quality, shipping and receiving.
- Coordinate plant activities through planning with supervisors and team leads to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Implement cost effective systems of control over capital and operating expenditures.
- Work directly with Regional Operations Director on company goals and processes and procedures. Strive to achieve goals and continuously look for improvements needed.
- Each plant has established goals in the areas of production, machine efficiency, quality, and safety. Ensure that the plant is meeting or exceeding these goals.
- Straw is a significant raw material component. Work directly with farmers on negotiating contracts and supply agreements that are in the best interest of the company.
- Responsible for monitoring and ordering raw materials for the plant, including ensuring no loss of production due to lack of material on hand. Establish good working relationships with vendors.
- Responsible for accurate inventory levels at the plant, including raw materials and finished goods. Constantly monitor the movement of materials in and out of the plant to ensure that accurate inventory counts are provided. Cycle counts and physical counts are completed monthly.
- Work directly with corporate human resource team to meet staffing requirements. Position will help interview, train, and onboard new employees.
- Work with supervisors and team leads to maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
- Provide hands on leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
- Supervise direct reports to hold them accountable for their areas of responsibilities by establishing goals, support for employee relations, mechanical/machinery issues, safety and daily challenges that arise.
- Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness.
- Work on the plant floor alongside team members some each workday.
- Collaborate with other plant managers to work together toward growing knowledge bases, standardizing processes and procedures, and achieving best practices.
- Plan, manage, and adjust workload and production schedules to optimize plant resources and meet scheduled production commitments to customers.
- Work directly with Regional Controller on budget to actual results, managing cost structures, as well as cost saving initiatives.
- Provide excellent customer relations when quality or delivery issues arise. Demonstrate a sense of urgency about customer response and addressing issues.
- Work with key senior management in ensuring exemplary daily operations support.
- Manage employee relations issues including counseling and terminations of employment.
- Safety is first priority. Provide leadership and direction at the plant ensuring an accident free workplace and that all safety procedures are being adhered.
- Establish and monitor comprehensive lock out /tag out procedures.
- Maintain consistent communication with management on key issues, potential customer issues, and approach to resolutions.

Travel Requirements:
- Although most time will be spent at home plant, the position may require some travel to other plants to collaborate with other plant managers on processes and procedures.
