Director of Purchasing and Accounts Payable

Western Home Communities is seeking a highly skilled Director of Purchasing and Accounts Payable to lead our purchasing and accounts payable functions. This leadership role will involve overseeing the procurement of goods and services, managing supplier relationships, ensuring accurate and timely payment processing, and leading a dedicated team of professionals. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving efficiency, cost optimization, and process improvements across both departments, with a focus on maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.  Location: Cedar Falls, IA (Regular in-office attendance is required)  Benefits of a Director of Purchasing and Accounts Payable:  ● Health, Dental, & Vision Insurance  ● Flexible PTO  ● 401k Match  ● Continuing Education Opportunities  ● Wellness Reimbursement  ● Employee Assistance Program  ● *Actual wage based on experience  ● And much more!  Requirements of a Director of Purchasing and Accounts Payable:   ● Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field  ● Proven experience in purchasing and accounts payable management  ● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills  ● Excellent negotiation and communication skills  ● Proficiency in ERP systems and financial software  ● Understanding of supply chain management principles  ● Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills  ● Effective oral and written communication skills  ● Proven organizational abilities and time management skills ● Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously paying close attention to details  ● Must be able to read, speak and write fluent English  Responsibilities of a Director of Purchasing and Accounts Payable:  ● Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and select reliable vendors, negotiate pricing and contract terms, and build strong relationships with key suppliers.  ● Procurement Strategy: Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize costs, quality, and delivery times, considering market trends and supply chain risks.  ● Purchase Order Processing: Review and approve purchase requisitions, generate purchase orders, and monitor order status to ensure timely delivery.  ● Inventory Control: Collaborate with inventory management to maintain appropriate stock levels, forecast demand, and identify potential shortages.  ● Quality Assurance: Establish quality standards for procured goods and services, and oversee inspection processes to ensure compliance.  ● Invoice Verification: Review vendor invoices for accuracy, including pricing, quantities, and compliance with purchase orders as well as General Ledger coding.  ● Payment Processing: Ensure timely processing of vendor payments according to established payment terms and company policies.  ● Vendor Reconciliation: Resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues with vendors. ● Financial Reporting: Generate accurate accounts payable reports and analysis for management review. ● Compliance: Adhere to all relevant accounting and financial regulations related to accounts payable. ● Budget Management: Oversee the purchasing and accounts payable budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities.  ● Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of purchasing and accounts payable staff. ● System Administration: Implement and maintain purchasing and accounts payable systems, including data integrity and reporting.  ● Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to streamline purchasing and accounts payable operations.  If you feel like you, or someone you know, would be a good fit for this opportunity within Western Home Communities- we would love to talk!  Western Home Communities is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC).
