Safely operates non-CDL vehicles to transport assigned riders; operates hydraulic lift (to assist those in wheelchairs on and off bus/van), wheelchair securement systems and safety seats as needed; assigns general seating for safety purposes; maintains discipline on bus/van; renders first aid and CPR to injured and/or seizure stricken Individuals as needed.
Responsible for daily installation and operation of 2-way radio; performs daily visual checks on assigned vehicle to ensure proper operation of vehicle and safety equipment, e.g., tires, signals, lights; reports the need for routine maintenance and repair of the vehicle; follows all motor vehicle laws. Washes and cleans assigned vehicle's interior and exterior at least once per month, and as needed.
Prepares and maintains required records and reports, e.g. route sheets, attendance sheets, mileage logs, fuel logs, maintenance and repair requests, pre-trip forms; reports all incidents, concerns and problems in running routes.
Receives and cares for written messages, medication and other personal items for riders/parents/guardians; responsible for locked medication boxes. Maintains medical equipment and prescribed medications. Ensures records and route book are kept confidential.
Attends departmental meetings and in-service training sessions as required. Performs other related duties as required, to include but not limited to: serving on committees, assisting and informing transportation safety aides of their duties as required.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma Or Equivalent
Current Valid Ohio Driver's License
Good Driving Record With Less Than 6 Points On Driver Abstract Report
Ability To Lift And Carry Up To 45 lbs. Safely
