The Gordon Ford College of Business is pleased to announce we are accepting applications appointment to the position of Specialist, Professional Development. The Gordon Ford College of Business Professional Development Specialist provides students with assistance in their short and long-term career goals by providing career guidance in relation to their academic pathway; advising students regarding their internship course for degree requirements; engaging students in career planning; assisting students with preparation for the job search; connecting students with potential employers; and maintaining partnerships with employers and community to meet the career needs of our students.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities
- Provide educational pathway guidance that helps students meet their short and long-term career goals
- Advise students on academic major choice that aligns with their career goals
- Collect and utilize pertinent data in decision-making and report regularly on the program, services, placements, accomplishments, and challenges
- Advise students on internship courses for business majors and minors
- Assist students with part-time and full-time internship search strategies and internship readiness skill development
- Focus on Mock Interview Facilitation and Negotiation Strategies
- Educate and coach undergraduate on job search skills, resume development, cover letter development, career portfolios, and interview preparation
- Professional Development Related Classroom/Organization presentations
- Maintain and develop partnerships with employers, faculty, staff, and the community to meet the career needs of students and alumni
- Assist with Career Fair Organization and Facilitation
- Continued Professional Development through NACE or other organizations for higher education career development personnel
- Consult and communicate with ACDC when applicable
- Cross-trained with GFCB advising to assist as needed
- Classroom instruction as qualifications allow
- Assist with the GFCB PEAK programming as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $43,000 - $45,000
