General Summary
- Provides mental health treatment and coordinates prevention, intervention, and support efforts across campus to assist for success and well-being.
Major Duties
- Provides direct care, support and intervention for students in distress, at risk, and in crisis. Provides an initial assessment of a student’s mental health needs and continue support as dictated by presenting condition. Works in consultation and support with the psychiatrist.
- Collaborates and consults with key stakeholders to develop a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to responding to, advocating for and supporting students. Support may include interventions with employees and staff as well as students and may require occasional evenings and weekends for crisis response, intervention, and support of various university units.
- Conducts trainings for staff, outreach interventions, and mental health screening.
- Performs direct care and treatment planning with students and group interventions.
- Manages electronic health records. Ensures all correspondence and notes are documented accurately and in a timely manner in compliance with health center guidelines.
- Analyzes and maintains data, prepares reports and conducts assessments.
- Creates programming materials and attends meetings as directed for continued collaboration and support.
- Collaborates with internal and external resources and departments and community partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensure as a Master-level Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Michigan, or Limited License Master-level Social Worker (LLMSW) with the expectation of full MSW licensure within four years of hire.
- Five years’ relevant experience.
- Experience working with college-aged individuals in a therapeutic setting.
- Experience performing therapy as dictated by the needs of clients.
- Experience with referral services.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Licensure as a Master-level Social Worker (LMSW or LLMSW) in the State of Michigan.
- Required to meet with students in various locations around campus.
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
Desired Qualifications
- Other relevant certifications.
- Knowledge of substances of abuse treatment modalities, skill set in CBT and EMDR.

Additional Position Information
- This position is an FTE 0.70, and will be scheduled 28 hours per week.

Physical requirements and working conditions
- Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds. Some walking required to meet with students in various locations around campus.
- Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
