What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator I position at Western Milling?
This position plays a vital role in the receipt, storage and shipment of grain and other crop inputs/agricultural products. Key responsibilities include operating heavy equipment, managing documentation, unloading rail cars and bulk trailers, and ensuring mill operations meet company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Heavy Equipment Operations: Operate front loaders to load commercial trucks with agricultural products, forklifts to move product around facility, rolls and other machinery to manufacture product to company standards and customer specifications, and safely operate bobcat and other industrial powered vehicles as needed.
- Clear Documentation: Maintain accurate batch records to ensure traceability.
- Mill Operations: Be proactive in operating and monitoring all plant operations, serve as Control Room operator controlling elevators, augers, drags, pits and turn heads, monitor product flow and speed to prevent plugs and overflows.
- Quality Control: Grade and classify grain according to company standards, accurately assess and record moisture, protein, dockage, odor etc.
- General Clean Up: Perform duties including sweeping, shoveling etc.
- Monitor Plant Operations: Monitor assigned plant operations, such as controls for roller, grinder, mixer, etc.
- Support Other Roles: Provide back-up support for other roles as necessary.
- Overtime Work: Available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis, as necessary.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Two Years Related Experience Preferred
- Heavy Equipment Experience Preferred
- Basic Operating Knowledge of Augers, Belt-Driven Machinery, Elevators, and Other Equipment Used in Production Process
