Overview

This position is responsible for developing, administering, and maintaining applicable food safety programs & policies across Western Milling’s feed manufacturing sites. Implementation and continuous improvement of food safety focused programs including but not limited to Redzone Compliance, Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs), Safe Feed/Safe Food, Quality systems and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).

 

This position has been approved for a hybrid work schedule out of our main office located in Goshen, CA. 

 

The salary range for this position is $25.00 to $29.25 per hour.  The Company offers insurance coverage that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, a 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, and more. 

Responsibilities

- Collaborate as a part of cross-functional teams to help drive continuous improvement of Quality and Food Safety Programs and culture at all Western Milling manufacturing sites. Travel to remote manufacturing sites will be required.- Assist in the administrative upkeep of and provide technical support on Redzone Compliance Modules for all Western Milling Commercial Feed facilities.- Assist in training and support of plant personnel on quality standards and best practices, with emphasis on Redzone Compliance and converting to paperless processes.- Assist in the implementation, upkeep and maintenance of Quality Systems within the Department. - Assist in the upkeep of document control processes and ensure proper document control procedures are followed. - Create, update and maintain SOPs and Policies in an organized manner to promote better understanding of requirements and promote a culture of continuous improvement related to quality. - Audit daily production paperwork/logs; review all paperwork submitted is complete, correct and signed.- Track and communicate results and create an environment of accountability for results and actions.- Audit daily production paperwork/logs; review all paperwork submitted is complete, correct and signed. - Collect and prepare samples for shipment to external labs. Track progress of samples through external labs to ensure complete processing and organize reports generated. - Analyze production performance metrics and disseminate routine daily, weekly and monthly status reports to management as needed.- Responsible for data collection, creating reports, and data summaries.- Complete and comply with Company’s Quality Assurance procedures and protocols: Hazard Analysis procedures (HACCP), Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP), Food Safety Plan (FSMA), prerequisite programs and Preventive Maintenance programs.- Develop and apply internal quality audits, and suggest corrective actions, as necessary. - Maintain Food Safety Plan, CGMP and Hazard Analysis compliance to current regulations.- Maintain accurate and organized records related to quality assurance standards, certifications and calibrations. - Escalate any non-conforming product/equipment/material to the appropriate supervisor/manager immediately. - Work closely with the Company’s complaint resolution team to investigate, document and resolve quality and food safety issues. - Perform additional Quality Control testing as directed.- Provide back-up support for other roles as necessary. - Available to work overtime on a scheduled basis as necessary.- Other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Supervisor/Manager/Director.

Qualifications

- High School diploma- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Animal Science, Food Science, or related field preferred.- Minimum 1 years of laboratory experience.- Minimum 2 years of previous QA, Food Safety and GMPs experience. - HACCP, ISO, SQF experience is preferred.- HACCP or PCQI certification preferred.

Skills

- Position requires demonstrated professionalism with a dedicated work ethic and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.- Computer software skills to include Word, Excel, and Outlook are required.- Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strengths, and ability to work effectively with a team are required.- Strong organizational skills.- Must be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as a team.- Excellent time management skills; comfortable working with deadlines and under pressure.- Excellent interpersonal skills.- Build productive working relationships with internal functional teams and may interact with cross-functional teams with some support from senior team members. - Familiar with lab instruments (centrifuge, scale, moisture meters, etc..).- Ability to effectively present scientific information and results in a methodical manner.- Familiar with OSHA, Lab Safety, GHS labeling, Hazardous Waste and Disposal.- Familiar with animal nutrition and feed safety risks.

Physical Requirments

- Continuously perform repetitive motion activities throughout the day.- Continuously use close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, read lab equipment, and detect product defects as well as the ability to differentiate color.- Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or tools. - Regularly exert up to 20 pounds of force, occasionally up to 50 pounds. - Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Environment

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.- The employee may be regularly exposed to very dusty and noisy conditions.- The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.- Occasionally exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing and lab testing process.
