Job Description
This is a part-time, temporary/seasonal position.
Reporting to the Director of Learning and Innovation, the Academic Coaching Coordinator provides day to day coordination of academic coaching both in person and online; schedules and oversees the work of academic coaches; recruits and trains coaches; manages the academic coaching budget; captures data and reports regularly on the program performance; develops procedures and policies for the Academic coaching program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or psychology or a field related to academic coaching/tutoring. Combination of experience, education and training can be used to substitute a Bachelor's Degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in supervising part time staff.
- Knowledge of study and learning techniques and strategies applicable to students in the first 2 years of college.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with online learning particularly in Canvas.
- Creative problems solving.
- Ability to work productively and collegially with a diverse population including students, faculty and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and supervises the daily operations of the academic coaching program involving 20 to 40 part-time coaches
- Manages the academic coaching budget
- Develops and maintains the academic coaching schedule
- Performs outreach to faculty and students to assess academic coaching needs
- Recruits and trains academic coaches
- Verifies academic coaches’ reporting of activities and timesheets
- Develops academic coaching materials
- Develops academic coaching workshops
- Manages and maintains the academic coaching presence in all online platforms
- Captures academic coaching data, maintains current spreadsheets, and regularly reports on academic coaching program performance
- Makes presentations to classes and faculty groups
- Participates in WNC committees
- May update academic coaching website information and content
- Performs related duties as required
- Participates in the development of department/division projects, initiatives, and operations
- Proactively identifies challenges, barriers, and areas of opportunity in the department; creates and implements solutions
Decisions and Judgement:
- Ensures conduct, atmosphere, and environments support the department and college’s culture and vision
- Selects academic coaches for hiring
- Manages academic coaching budget
- Establishes academic coaching schedule
- Develops and provides training to academic coaches
- Assesses the needs of the college in determining annual SMART goals for the academic coaching program
- Uses discretion in determining the dissemination of department, division, and college information
