Position Summary
Western Resource Advocates (WRA) is hiring a Program and Legal Assistant to join our Clean Energy team in Colorado. The Colorado Program and Legal Assistant, Clean Energy, will work part-time at 30 hours a week, and provide a full range of administrative and legal support to the Colorado Clean Energy team. The Program and Legal Assistant will report to the Colorado Clean Energy Manager and have opportunities to learn and grow while working with a variety of other administrative and conservation professionals. This is an exciting and dynamic role working to support a clean energy future.

Location
This position may work remotely in the Denver-Boulder metropolitan area, in WRA’s Denver or Boulder office, or a hybrid of the two.
Responsibilities:
CASE MANAGEMENT
- Organize and maintain WRA’s electronic files for Colorado Public Utilities Commission and Air Quality Control Commission cases, including management of confidential materials.
- Track case deadlines, manage state team calendar and maintain case log.
- Draft pleadings and discovery, finalize documents for filing with agencies, file documents, and serve on parties; other paralegal support as needed.
CLEAN ENERGY PROGRAM SUPPORT
- Lead biweekly calls with the core Colorado Clean Energy team to discuss upcoming case deadlines, filing needs, and other case-related issues.
- Schedule meetings for staff and external partners; make arrangements for occasional in-person meetings; take meeting notes as needed.
- Make or assist in travel arrangements for staff.
- As needed, assist with notetaking and summarizing public meetings and deliberations at the Colorado Public Utilities Commission
- As needed, assist with preparation and editing of reports and presentations and with legal and subject matter research.
- Manage logistics for annual Clean Energy retreat when taking place in Colorado.
Attorney Qualifications & Competencies
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position, will be considered. For example, the requisite experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities would include:
- At least one year of administrative office experience.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to juggle multiple activities and manage a deadline-driven docket of regulatory litigation.
- Thorough and detail oriented, with good time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
- Strong communication, writing and editing skills.
- Proficiency with computers; mastery of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; willingness to learn other management tools as needed.
- Helpful, but not required, is having a legal work background and expertise, with an emphasis on administrative law.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements:
The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation including:
- A typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.
- Prolonged periods of time at a desk and working on a computer.
- Position requires some travel by automobile, airplane, etc.
Travel Requirements:
Travel required for WRA staff and team retreats, and other external and internal meetings within the state and WRA’s region (less than 5%).
Salary And Benefits
This position will be part-time at 30 hours per week. The salary range is $44,250 to $51,795 annually (this translates to a range of $58,700-$69,060 if the position were full-time at 40 hours per week). Salary depends on relevant experience and new staff rarely start at the top of the range. WRA’s excellent benefits package includes a 401(k)-retirement plan with up to 5% matching and health, dental, vision, and life & disability insurance with 100% of premiums paid by WRA. Annually, full time staff receive seventeen days paid vacation leave to start and twelve paid sick days, vacation and sick leave are prorated for part-time staff. All staff also receive one paid volunteer day, twelve paid holidays, and WRA is closed for Winter Break between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day for additional paid time off. Employees are eligible for up to twelve weeks of parental leave, and after five years, staff are eligible for paid sabbatical leave.
