What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Associate--SHIINE Program position at Western South Dakota Community Action?
Interested in helping your community? Work with Community Action to help recruit volunteers and provide educational programs. This is with the Senior Health Insurance and Information Exchange program which supports seniors with Medicare insurance programs and fraud awareness and support.
GENERAL AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
To enroll, enlist volunteers, and educate our community on the WSDCA programs, specifically the Senior Health Information & Insurance Education program (SHIINE). This position(s) will be based in Pierre, SD but will serve a 16-county service area of Western South Dakota CAP, with primary responsibilities in central South Dakota counties.
MAJOR DUTIES
1. Recruit volunteers to assist in program operations.
2. Assist in volunteer training.
3. Participate in community engagement and outreach activities throughout the 16-county radius including Standing Rock, Cheyenne River, Lower Brule, and Crow Creek reservations.
4. Assist in reviewing eligibility determinations for enrollment in each program. Data entry experience is required. Ability to type and use various computer programs.
5. Hold Medicare Education events throughout the service area.
6. Hold Medicare Enrollment events throughout the service area.
7. Attend training and staff meetings as assigned.
8. Maintain accurate and confidential files.
9. Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ability to use and input data into software associated with programs.
2. Proficient with Microsoft Word.
3. Ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
4. Experience working with low-income individuals/families.
5. Valid driver’s license with no violations within the past three (3) years and an insured automobile.
6. High School or College degree preferred.
7. Personal vehicle, insurance and clean driving record required. Work travel is reimbursed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
