The Inventory Operations Manager is responsible for the proactive management and maintenance of Western States Equipment Company's Parts operations and inventories to ensure exceptional customer support and achieve established key performance metrics within the Parts business. This role is responsible for ensuring teamwork and collaboration throughout the dealership while meeting the Parts' needs of the businesses. Works and collaborates with Caterpillar and other vendors to define beneficial working relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Safety
- Actively cares, promotes, manages, and advocates safety at Western States. As a leader and team member in the organization, it is critical to ensure all employees, vendors, and clients have a safe work environment while adhering to all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
- Maintains clean/clutter free personal work areas to ensure safe environments for all WSECO employees.
- Adhering to required personal protective equipment (PPE) as identified in safety policy.
Parts Inventory, Supervision and Collaboration
- Oversees all aspects of managing and maintaining Western States Equipment Company's Parts inventory to ensure exceptional customer care and established return on investment.
- Achieves established key performance metrics for inventory operations to include but not limited to: fill percentages, inventory accuracy, core performance, Truck Engine Parts and Service (TEPS) stock order ratios, marketing program claims, discrepancy claims.
- Completes monthly and yearly reporting functions.
- Stocks parts inventories to support machine population throughout the territory.
- Supervises employees. Performs annual performance review and determines compensation increases. Administers discipline; authority to hire and terminate employees.
- Assists the Vice President of Parts to manage annual budget. Updates and revises budget yearly in accordance with company guidelines. Manages expenses.
- Partners with other departments to ensure teamwork throughout the dealership.
- Works with Parts and Service personnel to ensure customers receive a unified parts solution.
- Assists Regional Parts Managers to ensure profitable parts growth opportunity.
- Assists the Vice President of Parts in establishing fairly and profitably priced parts inventories.
- Maximizes purchasing advantages to consolidate parts inventories.
Operations and Training
- Assists Parts and Service Leaders in operations and programs to ensure consistency among all locations.
- Provides training and guidance to Regional Parts Managers as needed for new employees and new processes as identified.
- Works with Truck Engine Business Manager to achieve TEPS program goals.
- Promotes and manages all customer care standards.
- Actively cares and advocates safety at Western States. Promotes and manages safety at Western States. Ensures employees, vendors, and customers have a safe work environment. Adheres to and manages all applicable safety policies, procedures and standards.
- May accomplish training and serve as a team member in support of Western States' strategic programs, projects, and initiatives.
- Works within and promotes corporate vision, mission, and values of the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft office software.
- Technical knowledge of inventory operations.
- Technical knowledge of Caterpillar parts inventory.
- Technical knowledge of Microsoft AX, DBSi, Antares, AGCO, Infocast, CMIS and Cat support offerings preferred.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Consistent attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Minimum of two years of college or degree in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or Business preferred,
- Five years of comparable inventory experience required.
- One year of supervisory experience required.
- Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time along with walking, standing, climbing stairs, reaching pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
- Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
