The QMHP provides a variety of mental health services including evaluation, assessment, counseling, crisis intervention and emergency services as part of a professional treatment team.
- Knowledgeable of clinical counseling methods and techniques with the ability to observe, assess, evaluate, and modify treatment programs as needed.
- Considerable experience working with the severely mentally ill population.
- Regularly consults and interacts with other practitioners and physicians and participates in the review of clinical practices and concerns.
- Interacts and communicates daily with the inmate population to provide behavioral modification programs to improve outcomes.
- Collaborates with outside agencies to gather any available mental health history needed for continuity of care.
- Observes inmate symptoms and behaviors through regular interactions.
- Delivers extensive and complete documentation of all interactions.
- Provides education to inmates on available resources such as medication management, counseling, coping skills, substance abuse, anger management, and trauma.
- Maintains confidentiality in accordance with clinical standards and established policies.
- Works inside a regional jail in partnership with security staff to ensure safety.
A Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field with certification as a QMHP is preferred.
Must be available to work 8 hour shifts from 8AM – 4PM and Noon – 8PM.
Salary range is $50,000 - $60,000 per year based on experience. Generous benefit package available including membership in the Virginia Retirement System, Sentara Health Plans, Dental and Vision Coverage and more.
