Pontchartrain Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Our Assistants play an integral role in maintaining hospital flow and providing exceptional patient care. They are responsible for assisting with patient exams, following treatment plans by administering medications and treatments to hospitalized pets, and more!
In this role, you will also work closely with your Technician team to manage the veterinarian's orders, ensuring the highest standards of patient care while maintaining an efficient workflow to keep procedures on schedule.
This is a full-time role : (5-8s) with rotating weekend coverage.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Restraining pets for exams, treatments, venipuncture, etc.
- Radiology positioning
- Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs
- Medication administration
- Microscopic evaluation - setting up blood smears, fecal cytology, ear cytology, skin cytology
- Client communication and education
