- Provide leadership and administrative oversight for academic programs within the Arts and Sciences school, ensuring excellence in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Collaborate with department chairs, faculty, and staff to develop and maintain academic programs that align with institutional priorities and accreditation standards.
- Develop and sustain partnerships with community organizations, industry leaders, and educational institutions to enhance academic programs and student opportunities.
- In collaboration with full-time faculty within the school, develop an operational school plan that supports Western’s Academic Master plan and Strategic plan. Lead efforts to execute that plan.
- Will facilitate program review and assessment processes to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to accreditation requirements.
- Foster innovation in teaching and learning, including integrating technology, active learning strategies, and inclusive pedagogical practices.
- Oversee faculty hiring, evaluation, and professional development to support a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
- Promote quality in learning and instruction by using student-centered principles in leadership, management, hiring, scheduling, evaluation, and professional development.
- Support faculty through structured mentoring, regular feedback, and opportunities for leadership and professional growth, ensuring a positive and inclusive academic environment.
- Work with faculty and staff to develop course schedules that optimize student access, enrollment, and success.
- Drive strategic initiative to advance academic programs and priorities.
- Advocate for and manage school resources, including budget development, staffing, and equipment needs.
- Support and enhance student success initiatives, including retention, persistence, and completion strategies.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to analyze Workforce trends in support of programmatic changes at the College.
- Collaborate with other deans, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and institutional leadership to advance college-wide academic and strategic goals.
- Support faculty in securing and managing grants and other external funding opportunities for academic programs.
- Represent the school on institutional committees and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the College’s mission and strategic plan.
- Ensure there is an inclusive working and learning environment in the School of Arts and Sciences. Manage school communication and facilitate cross-departmental collaboration.
- Teach one course per academic year to stay connected with student experience and evolving educational needs.
- Participate in institutional events, community outreach activities, and professional associations as appropriate to support Western’s visibility, mission, and goals.
- Will in engage in ongoing professional development to remain current on trends in higher education, instructional innovation, and academic leadership.
- Provide student advising support as needed to guide academic and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in an academic discipline appropriate to this type of position.
- Minimum of five years of experience in higher education, including teaching and administrative leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to hire and train effectively and to develop good working relationships with faculty, staff, and administration.
- Proven capacity to supervise and provide leadership to highly educated professionals in academic settings, fostering mutual respect, collaboration, and accountability.
- Demonstrated success in budgeting, staffing, and program management.
- Experience in curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Ability to collect and analyze data to inform academic decision-making and program planning.
- Basic computer literacy and working knowledge of the use of technology in academic administration and instruction.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, including fostering collaboration, navigating complex challenges, and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal and public relations skills.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle record acceptable to the College’s insurance carrier for authorized driver status.
Equivalency Statement
For those candidates who do not exactly meet all the minimum qualifications, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which has provided comparable knowledge and abilities, will be acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with the Wyoming Community College System
2. Experience with the Higher Learning Commission or another regional accreditation agency
3. Experience implementing innovative teaching and learning strategies in diverse educational settings.
4. Experience with strategic planning and goal setting within an academic division.
5. Experience managing grants or external funding initiatives to support academic programs.
6. Experience in identifying needs and problems, creating innovative solutions, and managing multiple projects

This position offers a current annual salary of $87,906. Effective July 1, 2025, this position’s salary will increase to $96,300.
