Description : Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and coordinate receiving, inventory control, material movement, packaging, shipping, transportation, and distribution activities in accordance with company and applicable regulatory requirements. Ensures that efforts in the areas mentioned above result in secure, safe, and reliable distribution of company goods.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Works to supply products and services that meet or exceed the customers’ expectations. Follows the documented quality systems and processes to satisfy our customers’ needs.
- Coordinates internal shipping and delivery schedules for internal fleet and / or timing of external van or truck transportation of company products.
- Monitors load and weight of trucks for delivery, helping to facilitate maximizing trailer and carton cube utilization.
- Coordinates all company and fleet activities related to product realization and invoicing.
- Actively engages a continuous improvement mindset to reduce costs while improving performance.
- Participates in Safety activities to investigate and prevent accidents.
- Source, maintain and manage assets and resources related to the logistics department.
- Verify proper documentation is obtained and maintained.
- Ensures receipts from suppliers and shipments of products to customers are delivered at the expected time.
- Tracks and monitors outgoing transportation performance, ensuring carrier compliance to company standards.
- Maintains cost records of all vehicles, including gasoline, parts, labor, and inspections.
- Ensures company drivers maintain all required qualifications.
- Manages multiple priorities including customer inquiries, order changes, sample orders, product returns, and product shortage resolution.
- Maintains current knowledge of transportation operations, including county, State, and Federal transportation regulations.
- Schedule all maintenance and service on equipment.
- May assist other managers in other duties or special projects as needed.

This particular position requires the individual to have a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Business or Supply Chain Management; or 4-6 years related experience and / or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Five years’ experience with, logistics, transportation, and DOT FMCSA regulatory compliance.Prior supervisory skills.Preferences

This position directs and supervises drivers, shipping, and packaging departmental staff. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding / disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Working Environment and Conditions
