Title: Dairy Service Processor
Position Type: Full-Time
Average Hours: 40 hours/week
Starting Wage: $20-24 dollars an hour
Westmeadow Creamery is seeking Dairy Service Processors (DSP). A DSP is primarily responsible for working on the "raw" side of the creamery, usually working in pairs.
Common tasks include:
- Receiving milk
- Testing milk for antibiotics, hormones and fat content
- Managing product between tanks
- Separating milk
- HTST or VAT pasteurizing milk, juice or other dairy products
- Homogenizing
- Blending ingredients, including ice cream mix and chocolate milk
- Adding vitamin or flavor blends to milk
- Following recipes / procedures to make product
- Performing clean in place (CIP) programs on equipment
- Operating production machinery including butter churn, ice cream freezer, yogurt filler and thermoformer.
The DSP is a vital part of the organization and responsible for hygienic and timely delivery / production of product to the various packaging teams. The DSP is expected to be diligent in all matters of food safety, including completing paperwork, safe product handling and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Occasionally the DSP will be required to fill positions on packaging line, a liquid filler or butter packer for instance.
While on the job training is offered for this position, prior dairy experience is an advantage. Spanish is considered an advantage. The DSP candidate will, upon successful employment, is expected to be diligent during on-the-job training and live operations.
As a DSP in training, the starting wage will be $20 per hour. The following milestones increase the hourly rate, which can be completed in any order and can be claimed by applicants upon the beginning of employment if the applicant already meets and passes the requirements:
- $0.50 upon qualifying as a milk receiver (expected in the first 4-6 weeks)
- $0.50 upon qualifying for Appendix N testing (expected in the first 1-2 months)
- $0.50 upon qualifying separator training (expected in the first 2-3 months)
- $2.50 upon qualifying VAT & HTST training (expected in the first 3-6 months)
- Further increases with approval to operate additional production machinery.
Further raises past $24 per hour are incumbent on experience, leadership and problem-solving ability. Successful candidate will be subject to a 90 day probationary period.
Currently, Westmeadow runs the following shifts, which rotate every two weeks.
Earlies: Sunday- Thursday 7AM - 3:30PM
Lates: Sunday - Thursday 3PM - 11:30PM

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma / GED.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in plant / production operations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook.
- A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
- Dairy production experience preferred, but can be substituted with sufficient experience in production in another, regulated field.
