The Department of Education, in collaboration with the Department of Health & Exercise Science, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position, beginning August 15, 2025. This is a tenure-track position on a 9-month contract. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The selected candidate will have a 3-4 teaching load consisting of introductory and upper-level courses in Westminster College’s Education and Health & Exercise departments. As part of this load, the selected candidate will teach a first-year seminar on a rotating basis. As the Coordinator of the Physical Education program, responsibilities also include advising physical education and health education majors and overseeing the Physical Education program. Successful candidates will also contribute to our undergraduate research program and demonstrate an appreciation of holistic student development. Additional duties include maintaining regular office hours, fulfilling service responsibilities, and engaging in scholarly and professional development.
Requirements
Essential Functions:
- Experience teaching a broad scope of physical education-related courses (creative movements, P.E. methods, Adapted P.E., Community Health) on a collegiate level.
- Experience working in the education field
- Supervising student teaching (physical education & health education)
- Advising majors in Physical Education and Health Education
- Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods. (Student-centered learning, service learning, online teaching)
- Ability to relate to a diverse student population and facilitate individual student learning.
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology
Job Requirements:
Education: An earned doctorate or advanced ABD in Health & Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or related field is required. Evidence of excellent teaching experience at the collegiate level is required.
