Maintenance Technician Role
The Maintenance Technician provides skilled and semi-skilled repairs and preventive maintenance services to campus facilities.
Work Schedule
The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 2PM to 11PM, with occasional overtime and a subject-to-change schedule.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical work, including troubleshooting, re-lamping, repairing or replacing fixtures, switches, outlets, ballasts, and covers.
- Perform carpentry work, including installing shelves, bulletin boards, dispensers, pictures; repairing/replacing/installing building components such as walls, doors, ceilings, floors, hardware, partitions, shelving, bulletin boards, dispensers, minor exterior building repairs.
- Perform plumbing work, including maintaining and repairing sinks, toilets, faucets, dispensers, fountains, and pipes; clear obstructions from water, sewer lines, drains, and sump pumps.
- Perform routine inspections, diagnose issues, and carry out preventive maintenance on HVAC systems.
- May perform other tasks related to Plant Operations as needed, requiring a valid Missouri driver's license.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Five years of experience responsible for general facilities maintenance.
- Skills:
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide constituency, whether in person, over the phone, or electronically;
- Sincere dedication to exceptional customer service;
- Ability to produce high-quality, accurate work in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to successfully plan, design, and implement organized custodial programs;
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of cleaning, disinfecting, safety procedures, and experience in the operation of commercial custodial equipment;
- Ability to organize and prioritize;
- Ability to lead a team in a professional manner through establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others;
- Experience with and ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information;
- Ability to use a computerized work management and event scheduling system to efficiently allocate resources;
- A valid driver's license is required.
