Lead Food Service Worker

The Westminster School District, located in West Orange County, operates 17 schools: 13 elementary sites, three middle schools, and one site which provides preschool programs. The District has approximately 1,100 employees. The Westminster School District is recognized for high academic achievement and serves about 8,200 students, grades Preschool-8th. The district offers a broad scope of supplemental instructional programs including two dual immersion programs, GATE academy, music and band, exploratory STEAM/Coding programs, and state-of-the-art science and art facilities. Modern library-media centers, integration of technology, and specialized instruction help provide a well-balanced and rigorous curriculum to support students to become innovative, critical thinkers who readily adapt to a rapidly changing 21st-century environment. THE POSITION: Under general supervision, leads and participates in the work of Food Service Workers in preparing, setting up and serving foods to students and staff at a school site kitchen. Oversees and participates in maintaining food service areas, facilities and equipment in a neat, clean, safe and sanitary manner; responsible for ordering food or supplies, resolving problems and answering questions regarding the food service program at the site. Maintains cash drawer and makes change; operates computerized point of sale equipment; prepares daily cash and sales reports; performs other related work as required. The class of Lead Food Service Worker is generally assigned to work at school site kitchens with food preparation capabilities: performing the more specialized cooking and food preparation functions under the direction of a Lead Cook or Cook
