Project Scientist

Weston & Sampson is looking for a Project Scientist/Project Manager with 8 - 15 years of experience in wetland delineations, ecological habitat assessments, and environmental permitting. This is a hybrid position in our Rocky Hill, CT office.  

What you’ll do: 

• Delineating wetlands using the US Army Corps of Engineers methodology.
• Environmental permitting, preferably in CT, MA, and NH.
• Handling flexible workload, diverse project files, and working well with multiple staff members.
• Overseeing project teams with preparing permit applications for multi-disciplinary projects.
• Manage technical, budgetary and client aspects of projects.
• Assist with business development, marketing, and proposal preparation with support from senior management.
• Attend public hearings and present projects to various committees and boards.
• Establishing long-term relationships with agency, municipal and private clients.
• Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff.
• Participate in professional organizations through presentations and/or technical committees

What you will bring: 

• 8 years of experience in environmental engineering, consulting experience preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Certified Soil Scientist is a plus.
• Experience with conducting ecological habitat assessments is a plus.
• Experience with energy, transportation, and environmental project permitting is preferred.
• Experience with public speaking at public hearings, workshops, and seminars.
• Ability to handle flexible workload, diverse project files, and working well with multiple staff members.
• Valid driver’s license is required. Some travel will be required to client meetings and project sites.
• Familiarity with Connecticut and Massachusetts environmental permitting regulations.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Organizational/time management skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license
