We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional MDS Coordinator to join our team. This critical role ensures the accuracy, compliance, and quality of the MDS process across multiple nursing home locations within our healthcare organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of MDS assessments, care planning, and reimbursement methodologies, as well as a commitment to driving excellence in long-term care.

The Regional MDS Coordinator can work remotely but must be available to travel as needed to nursing homes within the assigned region for on-site support, training, and auditing. This position combines the flexibility of remote work with hands-on collaboration to ensure success across all facilities.

Key Responsibilities:1. MDS Management & Oversight

  • Oversee and support the accurate and timely completion of MDS assessments at all assigned facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (OBRA, PPS, and PDPM) across the region.
  • Develop and implement company policies and procedures to streamline MDS documentation and care planning.

2. Training & Education

  • Provide remote and on-site training to facility MDS Coordinators and interdisciplinary teams on MDS processes, care planning, and reimbursement methodologies (including PDPM optimization).
  • Conduct webinars, virtual workshops, and one-on-one mentoring as part of ongoing staff development.
  • Educate facility staff on regulatory changes, best practices, and company expectations for MDS accuracy and compliance.

3. Quality Assurance & Auditing

  • Perform remote reviews and on-site audits of MDS documentation, care plans, and billing processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and appropriate reimbursement.
  • Identify patterns or issues in MDS submissions and develop corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with facility administrators, directors of nursing, and other interdisciplinary team members to address and resolve concerns.

4. Communication & Collaboration

  • Act as the primary point of contact between corporate leadership and facility-level MDS teams, providing clear updates and guidance on standards, regulatory changes, and training needs.
  • Work closely with Regional Directors of Operations and other leaders to align MDS processes with organizational goals.
  • Foster strong working relationships with facility staff to promote teamwork and ensure MDS success.

5. Remote Work & Travel

  • Work remotely to provide virtual support, training, and oversight across multiple facilities.
  • Be available to travel as needed for on-site audits, urgent issues, or in-person training sessions.
  • Travel may vary depending on the needs of the facilities within the region.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Must hold a valid nursing license (RN or LPN/LVN). An RN license is strongly preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an MDS Coordinator in a long-term care setting.
  • Regional or multi-facility MDS experience is highly preferred.
  • Certification: RAC-CT (Resident Assessment Coordinator-Certified) certification is required or must be obtained within a specified timeframe.
  • Knowledge:
  • Expertise in federal and state regulations related to MDS, RAI processes, and skilled nursing reimbursement (PDPM).
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and MDS software (e.g., PointClickCare, MatrixCare).
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for remote and in-person collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple facilities, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
  • Travel: Must be willing to travel as needed to nursing homes within the assigned region.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
